HRD Ministry launches SHREYAS Scheme

  • HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the SHREYAS scheme on Wednesday to provide industry-specific apprenticeship opportunities to fresh graduates.

  • he initiative will help graduates polish their skills directly from industry experts and could bring India closer to its aim of skilling its youth population to make them more employable.

  • The full name of SHREYAS is Scheme for Higher Education Youth in Apprenticeship and Skills.

  • The programme basket includes the initiatives of three central ministries, including the HRD, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

  • IDBI Bank announced that the Board of Directors at its meeting held on 25 February 2019 has appointed Hemant Bhargava

  • the Non Executive Non Wholetime Chairman of IDBI Bank for a period of three years or till he continues as the Chairman-in-charge & MD of LIC, whichever is earlier as per the approval dated 22 February 2019 received in this regard from Reserve Bank of India.

CZPDC Bhopal And WZPDC Indore Honoured With Saubhagya Award

  • The Central Zone Power Distribution pCompany (CZPDC), Bhopal and West Zone Power Distribution Company (WZPDC),

  • Indore was conferred with the “Saubhagya Award” under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana at the National Conference of Energy Ministers by the Union Minister of State for Energy, R.K. Singh.

  • The award includes a cash prize of Rs 100 crore each.

PM Narendra Modi Conferred The National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 Awards

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave away the National Youth Parliament Festival 2019 awards in New Delhi.

  • In his Mann Ki Baat address in December 2017, PM Modi had shared his idea of organising Youth Parliaments for young people in every district of the country.

  • Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore had launched the festival on the 12th of last month to encourage the youth to engage with public issues and understand the common man’s point of view.

  • The winners from the national level competition are:

    1st position- Shweta Umre from Maharashtra.
    2nd position- Anjanakshi M.S from Karnataka.
    3rd position- Mamta Kumari from Bihar

RBI, Bank of Japan Sign Bilateral Swap Arrangement

  • Reserve Bank of India and Bank of Japan have signed a Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA).

  • It may be recalled that the BSA was negotiated between India and Japan during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tokyo in October last year.

  • The BSA provides for India to access 75 billion US dollars whereas the earlier BSA had provided for 50 billion dollars.

India Ranked 47th In The ‘Inclusive Internet Index 2019’

  • India has been ranked 47th in the overall “Inclusive Internet Index 2019″ score while Sweden topped the chart, followed by Singapore and the US, a Facebook-led study has revealed.

  • According to the Inclusive Internet Index (3i) prepared by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) for Facebook, there are demonstrable benefits from comprehensive female e-inclusion policies, digital skills programmes and targets for women and girls to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

BioAsia 2019 to be held in Hyderabad

  • BioAsia will feature a dedicated platform called the “Startups Stage” in its 16th Edition of the event to be BioAsia-2019 held at Hyderabad between February 25 and 27, 2019.

  • Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, stated that realizing Government’s vision of making “Flying for All” a reality underpins the government’s commitment to bring about a veritable revolution in the Indian aviation sector.

  • He further reiterated that the ball was set rolling during the hugely successful Global Aviation Summit -2019 which was attended by 85 countries and over 1,300 global aviation fraternity.

  • “This Conclave is about the future of Indian aviation – it bringing together industry leaders, government and regulators for setting the tone and propelling us to realize our Vision-2040”, he stated.
